A new boutique of Dassai, famous sake brand opened in Ginza (Tokyo). Akari-Lisa Ishii imagined a soft and pure lighting, in harmony with paper and wood texture designed by Kengo Kuma, the architect.
The walls were covered with Japanese white paper, in color of rice (base of the sake) which even conseals some rice grains. The light emphasizes the very symbolic purity of this white because these elements are a traditional offering.
The lighting also specifically values the exclusive bottles, strictly placed behind the counter on a single shelf. The light is used in front and behind to play on transparency as well as to highlight the label.
Very thin devices are discretly hidden between the ceiling wood louvers to respect the delicacy of the architecture. The soft atmosphere in daily use can be modified to intensify certain areas and darken others during particular events.
